College Dorm Room Organization Ideas

1. Rolling Cart

Rolling carts are an amazing way to organize your dorm room without taking up too much space. When it comes to using rolling carts for organizing your dorm room, there are lots of routes you can take to make it effective for your space.

Option 1: Use your rolling cart to organize your food.

Option 2: Organize your desk supplies

Option 3: Organize your beauty products

2. Mini Fridge Organizer

When I lived in my dorm, my roommate and I would put all of our food on top of our fridge and microwave, and things would always fall and get knocked down. This mini fridge organizer is great for organizing your most reached for food items in your dorm room to keep everything all in one place.

3. Drawer Organizers

It’s no secret that colleges sometimes skimp us on our dresser space in dorm rooms (my dorm only had 2 drawers, I don’t know how I survived). Don’t panic. Because you are going to have less space to work with, you’re going to have to make the most of the space that you have.

The solution to this problem is drawer dividers. You can use block-styled organizers or adjustable dividers, you just have to find what works best for you.

I love drawer dividers because they ensure that all of your clothes have a home, and no one gets left behind, or forget (haha, see what I did there).

4. Storage Bag Organizer

Since we just talked about making the most out of your space, I had to include storage bag organizers in this list of college dorm room organization ideas.

Storage bag organizers are perfect for organizing your out of season clothes and getting them out of the way to make room for your in season clothes so that you can have more space for them.

5. Bedside Caddy

This bedside is great to hang on the side of your bed to hold all of your most reached for nighttime essentials so that they don’t get lost.

6. Bedside Shelf

Similar to the bedside caddy, this bedside shelf is also really good for organizing your nighttime essentials such as your TV remote, your phone, etc. This shelf would work amazingly if you have a lofted bed in your dorm room!

7. Desk Organizer

Having an organized desk in your dorm room will make your life so much easier! This desk organizer set is perfect for organizing your writing tools, papers, and notebooks for your classes.

8. Accessory Organizer

How cute are these accessory organizers?! You can simply hang it on a wall in your dorm room, and you’ll be able to see all of your jewelry with ease, and they’ll be easy to grab and go in the morning on your way to classes.

9. Hair Tool Organizer

If you have a bathroom in your dorm room, this hair tool organizer would fit perfectly on your countertop. If you don’t have a bathroom in your dorm and you plan on using your desk as a vanity, this would work great for that too! Another way you can use this organizer is by putting it at the bottom of a beauty rolling cart.

10. Bathroom Counter Organizer

These are some other ways you can organize your bathroom counter if you have a bathroom in your dorm room. These organizers are great for organizing your everyday skincare and beauty products.

11. Organization for Snacks

One of the hardest things I struggled with when I was figuring out how to organize my food. These containers are perfect for organizing your food on your closet shelves, or other shelving in your door room.

12. Dresser Storage

We talked about the lack of clothing storage that most dorm rooms provide. You can take your clothing storage space into your own hands with this affordable dresser! You’ll be able to easily place this dresser in your closet, under your bed, or next to your bed for more space to store your clothes!

Dorm Room Organization Hacks

13. Use a shoe organizer to store food

Recreate this idea:

If you want your food to be out of sight and out of mind, try using a shoe organizer to organize your food on the back of a door in your dorm!

14. Organize bathroom products on your door

Recreate this idea:

If you happen to have a bathroom in your dorm room, you can utilize your door space to organize all of your bathroom must-haves!

15. Put a cube organizer under your bed

Recreate this idea:

This is probably my favorite (and best) dorm room organization hack! Putting a cube organizer under your lofted dorm bed is a great way to make use of the space to organize and store all of your things.

16. Maximize your desk space vertically

Recreate this idea:

You can really make the most out of your desk space by expanding your storage area vertically with this cute desktop shelving! You can organize it with cute storage bins or even just decorate it! Your options are truly endless.

17. Put storage bins on top of closet

Recreate this idea:

Putting storage bins on top of shelves of closets is a great way to organize smaller items such as accessories, underwear, socks, and more! They are also easier to keep organized because they are essentially “catch-all” baskets where you can just throw your things in there and not even have to think about it.
