Everyone is along a journey to get where they are supposed to be their lives.
The real question is…what part of the journey are you on.
Some of you might be in a season of despair and sorrow because you are not where you think you should be or where you think God wants you to be in your life.
The truth of the matter is you cannot see the promises of tomorrow if you are held back and blinded with our problems of yesterday.
It simply does not matter what is going wrong in your life, the only thing that matters is God’s promises to us.
Ephesians 1:17-18 gives you 4 simple steps that will show you how to find your purpose.
It is time for you to get up and take action and follow the true path God has for your life.
1. Know God
I was a little confused when I read this.
I thought to myself “Everyone knows God” why is this something that is crucial in the journey to finding my purpose?
While it is true that most people know God, but there are a lot more who do not truly KNOW Him.
Knowing God is way more than just knowing that there is a God and that He is real.
Knowing God means having an intimate and personal relationship with Him.
Having a personal relationship with God is formed by spending time with Him and His Word.
If you are struggling with finding ways to get closer to God, here a few things that you can do:
- Confess your sins on a daily basis
- Speak to Him through prayer
- Spend time with other believers
- Listen to Him when He speaks to you
- Be obedient to His commands
“Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord”, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21
2. Open the eyes of your heart
In simple terms, find freedom.
Once you have mastered step 1: Know God, step two will be upon you.
Finding freedom means that you know within yourself that you are no longer bound by your sins, fears, and failures of your past.
These are the things that are holding you back.
You are not the only one who has been or is going through trials and tribulations in life.
Everyone is going through something.
Don’t try to hide and act like everything thing is going perfect in your life if it is not.
Find a close group of believers that you can trust and take your mask off.
You might think they are going to think you are this horrible and terrible person….
However, this can’t be further from the truth.
I can almost guarantee you that when you open up to someone and share your struggles with them, they will be relieved.
They will be relieved that they are not the only one going through something.
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed” James 5:16
3. Know the hope for which he has called you
In simple terms, find your purpose.
In the book of Romans, we are described to all be apart of the body of Christ, each part with a function.
This is to the likeliness of our own bodies.
Each part of our bodies is there for a specific reason.
While each body part has a different function, each body part is essential to our survival and has a specific purpose.
That is how we should look at ourselves in the body of Christ.
We are all here for a specific reason, and those reasons might be different.
But each reason is essential to God’s plan.
There is something that God has blessed you the capability of doing.
That something has the ability to fulfill you, and make a difference to others.
“We have different gifts, according the grace given to each of us” Romans 12:6
4. Receive your inheritance
In simple terms, make a difference.
We are all here to flourish and grow into who God has sent us to be.
It is not God’s plan for us to suffer.
When you have mastered the first 3 steps, you will be in a place to us use your God given gifts and talents to make a difference in this world and change it for the better.
“This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples” John 15:8
What is holding you back from mastering your next step?
What is keeping you at the step you are at.
It is time to get up, and take action to become the person who God has sent you to be.
What are you waiting on?
