“New Year, New Me” is a common phrase I hear around this time of year. The start of a new year to me means new goals, new ideas, and a chance to start on a clean slate. The start of new year gives you the opportunity to set a new vision for your life and put yourself on a path to success. However, often times by the end of the third month of the year, I find myself drifting back into my old ways and losing sight of my end goal. If you find yourself in this position as well we are NOT letting it happen this year ladies. We are all going to stick together and keep the path to our goals going strong until we reach them. Here 10 New Years Resolution ideas that you can use to kickstart your list this year
1. Wake up early
Waking up early has truly changed my life this year and I will definitely continue doing it into the next year.
When you wake up early its almost as if your day lasts longer.
I have found with waking up early that I can get way more things done off of my to-do list.
Waking up early allows me to have more time to myself and keeps my mind stress free and focused on what is important.
2. Journal once per day
Writing is extremely beneficial to the mind and soul.
You can simply write about your day, goals, daily prayers etc.
I always start and end my day with the 5 minute journal.
This journal helps me to start each day thinking about what I am grateful for and end each day thinking about the good things that happened in my day.
No matter how bad of a day I am having, the journal encourages me to focus on the positive for approximately 10 minutes everyday which allows more positive experiences to enter my life.
I have been using this journal for the past 3 months and can truly see a change in the quality of my days.
3. Read 1 book per month
I always find myself struggling to find time in my day to read.
I challenge you to add reading 1 book per month to your new year resolutions along with me.
4. Listen to 1 podcast per day
This new year resolution is perfect if you are always on the go with a busy schedule and don’t have time to sit down and read everyday.
Some easy ways too squeeze a podcast into your day are to listening to podcasts when you are driving for an extended period of time (typically 2o minutes or more), in the shower, when you are getting ready in the morning, at the gym, or when you are cooking.
5. Write a to-do list everyday
Writing to-do lists has changed everything for me this year.
It feels so good just to be able see everything down on paper.
It also gives my mind space to think about other things rather that I have to do throughout the day.
Check out this post for more information on the importance of to-do lists
6. Establish a workout routine
This year I am extremely motivated to establish a consistent workout routine into my daily life.
It sounds kind of cliche because everyone and their mother has this on their list, but I believe it is extremely important.
Adding something a simple as workout routine to your life can change the whole aspect of your day.
7. Engage in one act of random kindness everyday
No matter how big or small I am challenging myself and you to go out of your way for someone at least once everyday.
Studies show that engaging in random acts of kindness helps promote positive energy that has the ability to transfer into all different kinds of aspects in our lives.
8. Meal Prep/Plan
I have a horrible habit of eating out…..almost everyday.
Not only is cooking healthier for you, it actually can be fun.
But if you’re like me and only find it fun on certain occasions, meal prepping might be perfect for you.
9. Save 15% of my income per month
This year I am really trying to crack down on saving.
By saving 15% of my income per month, I will be on track to hitting all of my financial goals this year as well some other goals I have for myself that are quite expensive.
10. Give 10% of my income per month
I am already in good habit of tithing every month but I feel like I should (and can) be doing more.
This year I am challenging myself (and you) to set aside 10% of my income per month to give.
However you give is totally up to you.
Here are some examples:
- Charity
- Helping a friend or family member
- Additional money to the church
