How many of you actually love mornings? If you don’t like mornings, I completely understand. It was only a little while ago that my perspective on mornings completely turned around.
What if I told you that all it takes to love mornings is changing what you do in the morning?
Yes girl, it can really be THAT SIMPLE. Here are 10 things you should avoid doing in the morning. And in turn, you can learn to love your mornings!

Hitting the snooze button
I know, I know – hitting the snooze button is something that we all have done at some point (if you’re like me, everyday).
Hitting the snooze may make you feel like your squeezing in an extra 10 minutes of sleep to help prepare you for the day. But in reality, all it is doing is making you even more tired than you really are!
When your alarm goes off in the morning, take a deep breath, count down from 5, and get up and get ready for the day.
This probably the number one thing you should avoid doing in the morning because it really makes all the difference!
Pro tip: Set your phone/alarm across the room so you are forced to get up and out of the bed!
Getting on social media
It can be soooo tempting to grab your phone and start scrolling in the morning.
Your mornings should be free from outside energy and completely catered to you. It is essentially your time to prepare your mind, body, and soul for the day.
The TL and feed is not going anywhere and will still be there later on!

Drinking coffee first thing
It is best to drink your coffee after breakfast at around 9:00 am.
When you drink your coffee first thing in the morning, you will be more likely have an unwanted afternoon crash.
I just have to have something warm in the morning, so I swapped my early morning coffee for a lemon apple cider vinegar drink. This drink helps with digestion, prevents bloating, and increases your metabolism!
Recipe
- 1 tablespoon of ACV
- juice from half of a lemon
- sweetener of choice (I use honey)
- 8 oz of hot water
If you insist on a burst of caffeine in the morning, you can also try a matcha latte in the morning to replace your morning coffee. Matcha’s have less caffeine than general coffee. They also have a calmer energizing affect so you aren’t left feeling jittery.
You can find a recipe here.
Skipping breakfast
Let’s face it, most of us live pretty busy lives and are constantly on the go. For the longest time breakfast was sort of an after thought for me.
If I had time to grab it, great. If not, that was okay too.
It is 1000% true that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Now, that doesn’t mean a McDonald’s McMuffin is all fine and dandy.
A good nutritious breakfast consists of protein, fiber, and healthy fats. This is what is going to give you kickstart to your metabolism and brain and carry on throughout the day.

Not letting the sun in
Getting ready in the dark can make you feel more gloomy then you probably already are (even after not hitting that snooze button haha).
Open your curtain and blinds and let a little sunshine in to help brighten your mood and alert your brain while you are getting ready to start your day!
Checking your email
No matter how important your emails may be, I promise you they can wait girl!
Remember, your mornings are all about YOU. When you check your emails at the start of your morning, you essentially make your mornings about the people that are emailing you.
I also struggle with checking my texts and emails first thing in the morning, so I completely understand. But those emails will be there when your workday/schoolwork start.
Take your time and I promise your mood will be 10x better going into your day!
Not hydrating
It is extremely important that we hydrate our bodies when we wake up. Our bodies have gone 6-8 hours without anything to drink.
Drink a glass or two of water as soon as you wake to hydrate your body as you get your day started.
Eating right away
We already talked about how it is important not to skip breakfast. However, it is just as important to avoid eating breakfast as soon as you wake up.
Give your body 30 minutes to an hour to hydrate and settle before eating.
If we eat as soon as we wake up in the morning, we will actually be more likely to overeat due to dehydration.
Leaving your bed unmade
A made bed can be such a mood booster throughout the day. Even though it may seem so small, it can make all the difference!
I always think that if my bed is put together, I am put together. If my bed is not, I am not.
I don’t know why, but I can totally see the difference in my day when my bed is made!
Rushing out the door
Rushing out the door in the morning can have a spiral effect throughout the day and leave you feeling sort of blah.
Try waking up at least 15 minutes before you actually have to get up so that you are able to take your time getting ready and aren’t rushed!
