Why are mornings important?
Our mornings and morning routines allow us to set the tone for our days. This help us to be able to have a grasp over the quality of our days, rather than our days having a grasp over us. As we begin each and everyday with a fresh start, we will be better able to truly focus on what is is importance to us and our daily lives.
How can a morning routine change your life?
Our bodies love routines. A routine is typically a habit that you continue to do over and over without any thought. Mornings are a great time for some “you” time. Your mind will be fresh, and your energy will be high. This will allow you to give yourself some self care before you go into craziness of your hectic and demanding schedule,
8 Things to Do Before 8AM
Wake up early
Waking up early will completely turn your life around. However, it can be be a difficult habit to develop if you aren’t used to being a morning person.
Becoming a morning person takes time, but I assure you that it is an attainable goal for anyone and everyone. The key to becoming a morning person is training yourself to become a morning person.
If you aren’t used to waking up early don’t shock your body instantly by waking up at 5AM if your body is used to waking up at 8AM. This will only lead to fatigue and tiredness throughout the day (and that is the last thing that we want).
Start slow and steady. Wake up 30 minutes earlier for 2 weeks, then an hour earlier the next 2 weeks, and so on and so forth until you reach your goal.
Plan your day
Ever since I started planning my days out, I have noticed a major change in my productivity levels. Let me tell you, I was the queen of procrastination. I would always get the things I needed to do, done, but instead of feeling relieved after completing my tasks, I was stressed, worn out, and felt defeated – And I was tired of feeling that way.
I often hear people say “there’s just not enough time in the day”. However, this is just simply not true. It is all about how you effectively and efficiently you utilize your time.
Take a few minutes everyday and write your tasks and your to-do list in your planner. I personally love to time block. This allows me to see and know what I am supposed to be doing at every hour.
Write in your journal
Journaling is one of the best ways to center yourself and your mind and get to know yourself a little better. There’s just something about getting your thoughts down on paper that is utterly freeing. Here are a few ideas and journal prompts to start your mornings:
- What’s on your mind?
- What is something good that has happened recently?
- How could you have made yesterday better?
- Write 3 things you are grateful for?
- What are 3 goals you have for yourself today?

Take time to get ready
I have recently found that when I take time in the morning to put myself together, I feel better and perform better throughout the day.
For the longest time, I tried to wake up at the latest time possible and do a little as possible to get ready. This routine came down to washing my face, brushing my teeth, throwing up my hair, and grabbing the first outfit I saw while running out of the door.
Doing this left me feeling unmotivated and lacking self confidence throughout the day.
If you are also dealing with this, I encourage you take that extra 30 minutes to throw on some makeup and an outfit you love, I promise you it will be worth it!
